TOUR INDEX

Californians are a race of people; they are not merely inhabitants of a state.
O. Henry

The following is a list of tours that I have attended in California between September 2004-July 2005. Over time, I will add tours to this list as I complete them.

NOTE:  I have been going on tours for nearly five years. The tours listed on this website represent less than 50% of all the tours I have attended and reviewed..  I offer a free handbook of tours that I completed between 2000-2004 (mostly in Northern California) to anyone who subscribes to my tour postcards.  To subscribe, either enter your e-mail address in the blank indicated on the right side panel of the website or send me an e-mail requesting a subscription to my California Tour Guy Postcards.
Price Index
If a tour is free, it is so noted in the description. If it costs money, you?ll notice dollar signs indicating the range of the cost of the tour. Since prices go up frequently, I do not indicate a specific price.

$ between $1-5
$$ between $5-10
$$$ between $10-20
$$$$ between $20-40
$$$$$ over $40

Check out some of the best tours that I've encountered of California's best neighborhoods, factories, museums, parks, lighthouse, and other special places.

NOTES:

  • These descriptions were prepared by me, Paul Heller, the California Tour Guy. I have attended over 250 tours of California and am authoring an upcoming book called: Seeing Gold: A Guide to Hundreds of Tours of California's Best Museums, Neighborhoods, Factories, Architecture, Historic Homes and Lighthouses (Anticipated Release Date: Spring 2007).
  • I am also the founder of The Big Blue Marble, a travel seminar and publication company dedicated to teaching travelers venturing outside of the US with useful and inspiring tips and stories to help them travel more cheaply, safely, and meaningfully.
  • I encourage my readers to submit suggestions for improving this website, information about other tours to include on this website, comments, and corrections to me by e-mail.
  • In addition to this list, I have also prepared book reviews, blog commentaries, and tips for enjoying this tours. I also have developed a list that describes my criteria for selecting the tours that are included in my publications and this website.
